The manufacturer’s quoted ranges on dongles are based on successful Bluetooth transmissions between similar powered transmitters. As Bluetooth Marketing relies on communication between device’s that use different sized Bluetooth radio classes, i.e. class 1 and class 2, then the broadcasting range can be reduced as a result.
Upgrading to a more powerful transmitter or dongle will both increase your discovery capability and broadcasting range.
